COPD stands for Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease and is often referred to as emphysema and chronic bronchitis. With COPD, a person's flow of air in and out of the lungs is less than it should be causing which makes it difficult to rid the body of carbon dioxide as well as not being able to get enough oxygen. While COPD is the third leading cause of death in the United States, it is often treatable when discovered early and preventable for those known to be at risk. More than 12 million people in America are living while millions more may have it without knowing.
