Suicide is a leading cause of death in the United States. It was responsible for nearly 46,000 deaths in 2020 according to the CDC. Some but not all people are at greater risk of having suicidal thoughts because of mental disorders like depression, bipolar disorder, alcohol or substance abuse as well as having a serious medical condition or having a family history of attempted or completed suicide. In recent years, being bullied has also been a contributing factor. No matter what the circumstance, though, these people are loved and cared about but they may not realize it.
